75 Hours in Cleveland with Shana Black

Welcome to the great city of Cleveland, Ohio! We have a wealth of beautiful and captivating landmarks, museums, performance art and gardens, farm-to-table restaurants and an eclectic nightlife scene. Wherever you visit will be an adventure and the best of what Cleveland has to offer!

Before we start, I have to recommend that you stay Downtown, or close to Downtown. This makes getting around easier and the ability to walk and explore Cleveland that much better.  One more thing, there are 6 Cleveland script signs located around the city. It’s definitely worth taking a moment to stop and take a selfie or a family photo to remember your trip to Cleveland.  If you are flying into Hopkins Airport there is a sign on the baggage claim level.

Day 1: Welcome to Downtown Cleveland!

Morning

Start your day with breakfast at Addy’s Diner housed within the 5th Street Arcades. After breakfast, visit Coco’s Chalky Paints to make souvenirs and the other eclectic shops in the Arcade.  

Afternoon

Plan a guided tour by stopping over to DestinationCleveland. There, you can get free information on tours, maps of the city and other guidebooks to help you make your trip more enjoyable.  While you're over there head up the street and visit Corner Alley for a game of bowling. Grab lunch at Cleveland’s Iron Chef Michael Symon’s Mabel’s BBQ or Zanzibar Soul Fusion. Wrap up the afternoon with a snack at Cathy’s Gourmet Ice Cream Sandwiches.

Evening

Cleveland is home to the second largest theater district in the country. Enjoy a play or concert at Playhouse Square for your evening entertainment. While you’re there check out the GE Chandelier at the corner of Euclid and E. 14th Street. It’s been said to be the World’s Largest Outdoor Chandelier, definitely worth a photo. Enjoy dinner at North Coast Harbor on the shore of Lake Erie at Nuevo Modern Mexican & Tequila Bar, then walk across the promenade with a visit to the famous Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. Don’t forget to take a picture by one of the Cleveland signs before you close your evening!

Day 2: Welcome to University Circle!

Morning

On your way from downtown to University Circle, stop by Cafe Phix, or Urban Kitchen in Midtown for a yummy Cleveland-style breakfast. This day will be full of museums to pique your interest, so fuel your body first!

Afternoon

University Circle has a plethora of unique and interesting venues to enjoy. Stopping by the Cleveland History Center is a must. There you can learn about Cleveland, take a ride on the Euclid Beach Carousel, check out the classic cars and learn about fashion. University Circle, specifically Wade Oval is also home to the Cleveland Museum of Art, the Cleveland Museum of Natural History and the Botanical Gardens. Take your pick of delicious lunch spots in the historic Cleveland Heights neighborhood such as Mediterranean Tapas at Zhug, a horror movie themed experience at the Haunted House Restaurant or classic Italian at Mia Bella. If you’re looking for a quick bit while you’re on the go, stop over to Capo’s Steaks at Mayfield and Euclid Ave. 

Evening

As you venture back downtown, take a walk through Rockefeller Park, which is home to 10-acres of beautiful greenery surely to activate your senses. End your day of exploration here before dinner at L’Albatros, a French brasserie nestled on Case Western Reserve University’s campus.

Day 3: Welcome to the West Side and the Flats!

Morning

If you are an influencer, the 27 Club, Machine Gun Kelly’s new eclectic coffee shop is a must. They boast an extensive coffee and cocktail menu as well as breakfast. Be prepared to wait in line and to take lots of pictures. If not, head over to Gordon Square for breakfast or brunch.

Afternoon

Plan to travel west to Ohio City, Hingetown or Tremont. These are all trendy Cleveland neighborhoods with small businesses and restaurants that won’t disappoint. Make a reservation for a delectable farm-to-table lunch at SouthSide. After, take a short walk to the Christmas Story House on the next block.

Evening

Return to the Flats for a night of food and fun by Cuyahoga River. Collision Bend and Punch Bowl Social are guaranteed for a great evening.There are a number of bars, restaurants, and night clubs in the Flats if you want a night that never ends.  Looking for comedy? Check out the Cleveland Improv on the West Bank of the Flats and also check out the Music Box Supper Club for a variety of cool events.
